This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe was repainted in 1977 in a custom white, red, and blue color scheme with racing-style graphics with “Ms. Fortune” lettering. The previous owner acquired the car in 1984 and sold it to the selling dealer in mid-2024 after the vehicle had been refurbished in 2022 with the goal of making it more streetable. Power is supplied by an overbored 383ci V8 linked to a 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission, Moser axles, and a 3.91:1 rear end. The engine has a 750-cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, aluminum cylinder heads, Offenhauser finned rocker covers, MSD ignition, an aluminum radiator, and tubular headers. Other equipment includes power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, staggered-width Center Line 15″ wheels, a dual exhaust system, a raised hood scoop, a B&M shifter, AutoMeter gauges, and black leather upholstery.
The car was repainted in 1977 in its current white, red, and blue scheme accented with gold-colored pinstriping; the selling dealer states that the vehicle was originally finished in black. A rectangular scoop rises above the hood, hand-painted “Ms. Fortune” lettering adorns both doors, and the vehicle also has dual side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers and trim. Cracks, chips, and other imperfections in the paint are pictured in the gallery below.
Staggered-width Center Line 15″ wheels are mounted with 165/80 Thunderer Mach I front tires and 295/55 Mickey Thompson GT Street S/S rear rubber. Four-wheel disc brakes have been installed and are power assisted. Coilovers have been added at the raised rear suspension.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in black leather, and an American flag is draped over the back seat. Appointments include a B&M Pro Ratchet shifter, blue carpeting, carpeted floor mats, blue and black door panels, and bright doorsill trim. The headliner has been removed.
A Grant GT steering wheel sits ahead of AutoMeter instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows 6k miles, and the selling dealer states that approximately 400 miles have been added since the 2022 refurbishment; true mileage is unknown.
The 383ci big-block V8 is said to have been installed in 2022 after being bored .030″ over and receiving replacement bearings and rings to aid a 10.0:1 compression ratio. The engine is augmented by a 750-cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, aluminum cylinder heads, Offenhauser finned rocker covers, MSD ignition parts, a four-core aluminum radiator, tubular headers, and a replacement fuel tank and lines.
